In a revealing conversation with Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman on the On That Note podcast, Omarion revealed his three-year journey into celibacy and spiritual disciplines, describing it as a formative chapter in his personal growth and self-mastery.
The B2K frontman doesn’t flinch when recalling that period of deliberate abstinence, which he said was motivated by a desire to control his body and mind.
“I did that for three years. Looking back now, I’m like, Oh my God,” he said. “Because I love women. I love women in all their glory, friendships, best friends, lovers, all of them.”
Omarion explained the deeper connection he felt during that time, calling it a spiritual intimacy.
“I think that’s when I started to tap into a kind of telepathy. I could feel closer to someone even when they weren’t around,” he said. “I have the power to say no to anything. Just like you, if I don’t want to do something, I can stop today. I think that’s the power of discipline.”
This isn’t the first time the R&B singer has spoken out about this chapter of his life. He’s discussed this before on the Know Yourself podcast, recalling advice he received as a teenager.
“‘Do you want to have a career? Or do you want to have kids here?'” he remembers being asked. “We were like, ‘Huh?’ You know 15, 16, we weren’t thinking about that, but it was a real thing.”
Now a father of two with ex-boyfriend Apryl Jones, Omarion continues to explore his growth through music. His upcoming album “O2” is expected to be released in 2026.
