OJ Da Juiceman was arrested last week for allegedly pointing a gun at a Georgia police officer.
OJ Da Juiceman, born Otis Whitfield Williams Jr., was arrested on March 15 in DeKalb County, Georgia, and was charged with a series of charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at a state trooper during a traffic incident, according to an arrest document obtained by XXL. The Atlanta rapper was charged with a total of 10 counts: eight misdemeanors, including aggressive driving, reckless driving, pointing or aiming a gun or handgun at another person, and more.
The remaining charges are two aggravated felonies: possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and aggravated assault on a public safety officer. Each person could be sentenced to up to 5 to 10 years in prison.
The charges stem from a January 28 road incident in which a Georgia state trooper claims the rapper pointed a gun at him multiple times while driving as he passed OJ multiple times on the interstate.
According to an article published by TMZ on Monday (March 23), the officer claimed in an affidavit that OJ began following him and honking his horn as they merged into the HOV lane on I-20 East in Atlanta. The officer claimed that OJ then passed him, brandishing a black handgun, and then drove recklessly through traffic, speeding away.
Authorities subsequently identified OJ and his car, a Nissan Altima, and issued a warrant for his arrest.
XXL has reached out to representatives and attorneys for OJ Da Juiceman and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
OJ is reportedly contesting the charges against him. TMZ reported that his attorney asked OJ to be released on bail. Additionally, there is reportedly a sworn affidavit from a woman claiming that OJ was not driving the vehicle he rented on her behalf during the alleged incident. Instead, she claimed she allowed another man to drive the car.
