Nicki Minaj is the most successful female rapper of all time. More than fifteen years into her career, she has continued to break records, and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Regardless of gender, she will go down as one of the most iconic rappers of her generation. In other words, Nicki Minaj casts a huge shadow. It is extremely difficult to make a breakthrough in the same field as Mina, especially as a family member. That’s why Li Minggna’s recent comments are so revealing.
Li Ming recently joined our podcast in Miami. She discusses her burgeoning music career and her complicated relationship with her half-sister Nicki Minaj. Nepotism has become a talking point in recent years, but Li Ming claims her family relationships actually made growing up more difficult. “It’s a little difficult,” she admits. “I used to be bullied a lot because people used to say, ‘Oh, if this person is your sister, why doesn’t she do this for you?'” Li Ming went on to explain that the bullying she experienced led to resentment. “When you’re young, you don’t know how to respond,” she said.
Nicki Minaj’s sister admits they were never close
The relationship becomes more complicated when Li Ming decides to become a rapper. “I never needed her to help me achieve my goals,” she asserts. “I just need her to see that I can do it and that she can be proud of me and not have to think that I need to have an easy way out.” Nicki Minaj’s success has impressed Lee on so many levels Ming was scared. This also led to a situation where Li Ming was trying to impress the rapper. “I’ve had this urge before,” she revealed. “Wanting to impress my sister.” Part of wanting to impress Minaj is that rappers are always busy. Li Ming claimed that the relationship between the two had not been very good and they tended to fight when they were together.
But in the end, Li Ming claimed that it was all love. The up-and-coming rapper views her fight with Minaj as something only siblings do. “She is a good sister,” Li Ming added. “She would check in on me and my dad from time to time…always making sure everything was okay. I don’t have any hatred towards her.” As Li Ming’s profile goes, fans may even see her and Nicki Minaj on the same page Records were traded for gold bars.
