22GZ reportedly attacked on Rikers Island after being arrested in the shooting
According to rivals and social media circulating, Brooklyn drilling rapper 22GZ is reportedly facing violence almost when entering Ricks Island.
The rapper has been detained recently for a shooting several years ago. Almost immediately after Rikers handled it, reports began to spread online, claiming he was “brutally beaten” by members of the alleged Mac Baller Gang (probably the blood I was told).
Some of these claims appear to come from opponents in the exercise culture. Known for controversial lyrics and rivals targeting opponents and even the dead, 22GZ has long been nervous with other crew members in New York. On his track “Day One”, he quoted the Mac Baller branch with his name, adding to the history of “blood” between crew members.
Now those same groups are getting credit online and say they “reached their hands” once he reaches the infamous facility. Images and posts of so-called gang branches have sparked speculation that beatings are linked to disputes overflowing from the streets to the prison.
However, these reports have not been independently verified. In the world of drills, competitors often catch up with the internet with exaggerated or fake stories, aiming to undermine another rapper’s reputation. The allegations of being attacked in prison can damage street credibility, potentially lower streaming numbers and weaken street image, even if the claim is not correct. So, this is one thing.
Rikers Island officials have not issued a statement confirming or denying that 22GZ is involved in a fight. But the conversation highlights the close connection between street competition and musical representation in New York’s drills.
We have to wait.
This event, if true, marks another chapter in the rapper’s crazy and turbulent career. If the 22GZ could survive, maybe he would make changes outside the prison wall.
