NBA YoungBoy accuses Birdman of alleged betrayal in new song “Tears of War”.
The Cash Money Records co-founder, who has been both a collaborator and mentor to the Baton Rouge rapper in recent years, appears to have clashed with the currently incarcerated star.
In the song, premiered by Akademiks, YoungBoy raps: “Know that Stunna never loved me, should have listened to Carter.”
He was referring to Lil Wayne’s public warning against trusting Birdman in his 2020 song “Multiple Flows” with Lil Uzi Vert, Weezy said: “I told YoungBoy to watch out for the old man.”
Ak said “Tears of War” was the last song YoungBoy recorded before his recent arrest.
The 24-year-old is currently in jail for his alleged role in a drug prescription fraud case in Utah and had previously been on house arrest in Utah in an unrelated federal gun case.
While it’s unclear what sparked their apparent feud, NBA YoungBoy and Birdman had been close before “Tears of War.”
In 2021, they teamed up to release the joint project From the Bayou, which was originally supposed to be released three years earlier.
Stunna even said in a FaceTime chat between the two that was posted online last year that YoungBoy could save hip hop.
“We need you, bro,” Birdman told YB. “This shit is watered down, man. What the fuck, man? Man, this shit is watered down, bro… We gotta save hip-hop, bro. Gotta save this shit. Real talk.
His disciple at the time responded: “I find it watered down. But I’m here anyway.
The veteran rap mogul has spoken highly of his fellow Louisianan in the past, claiming he could be the “biggest rapper” in the game in September 2021.
“I think NBA YoungBoy is probably the biggest rapper,” he said on the Big Facts Podcast. “There’s no n-gga bigger than NBA YoungBoy, the numbers don’t lie, he’s the biggest artist on YouTube and he’s the mastermind behind it.
“When that little boy clears his head and gets through this bullshit and understands who he is, you know, [Young] The thugs and all of them, they’re old, they’re 30 years old, this n-gga is 20 years old.
He added: “NBA YoungBoy, this is not normal. There’s nothing normal about him. He’s special. The big money is there. I think he’s a billion-dollar n-gga. He’s going to do it in terms of touring, merchandise, music Get ahead. There’s nothing we can do about it.
Birdman also compared YoungBoy to Lil Wayne, saying, “Looking at the speed at which he makes music and the value of music, I see a lot of similarities between him and Wayne.”
