Missy Elliott is returning to the fashion spotlight and promises plenty of new music to tease her fans.
The hip-hop star has been absent from the album scene since The Cookbook was released 19 years ago, but she revealed she has produced enough material for six new albums.
In April, the esteemed artist announced her upcoming debut tour, Out of This World: The Missy Elliott Experience.
The tour, starring collaborators Ciara and Busta Rhymes, will captivate audiences across North America from early July to the end of August.
Missy Elliott promoted the tour in an interview with Variety, hinting at a new album coming soon.
“I’m pretty sure I can speak for a lot of these people when you’re a writer and a producer, they’re recording all the time. So I probably have at least six albums of music under my belt now,” Missy Elliott revealed.
She talks about her long-time collaborator Timbaland urging her, “What are you waiting for? So what are you waiting for? I would say, I don’t know.”
Elliott hinted that her album might be announced as a surprise.
“I’m sure one day everyone will go on their way and then you’ll just look on the internet and see my album date. So yeah, I think it’s going to happen sooner or later.
