In a bombshell interview, Chuck Creekmur of Allhiphop spoke with attorney Nicholas Ramcharitar, who litigated her long-time friend Mary J. Blige on behalf of stylist Misa Hylton.
Designer-turned music manager Misa Hylton has filed a lawsuit against Grammy Award-winning artist Mary J. Blige, alleging breach of a contract related to the administration of rapper Vado. Vado, a New York City staple food, is an artist who signed the Blige brand, beautiful works of life. Hylton and Blige have been best friends for decades.
According to Nicholas Ramcharity, Hylton’s attorney, the case stems from Hylton’s allegations being an unmet contractual obligation. These missed promises allegedly included excluding travel and other music businesses with iconic singer Vado. Communication between Hylton and Blige appears to have collapsed, prompting Hylton to take legal action.
Despite efforts to resolve the matter privately, Allhiphop first reported the legal filing. Mr Ramcharitar described the emotional and financial losses caused to Hylton by the dispute.
“Ms. Helton didn’t want this to be a public affairs,” he said. “She used every path before she went to court.”
This incident is a shock to the culture. Mr. Ramcharitar gives a confusing background and provides some revelation for the subtle conversation.
Here is an edited version of the conversation between Chuck “Jigsaw Puzzle” Creekmur and attorney Nicolas “Nick” Ramcharitar. Please watch the video for a full 17-minute interview.
Allhiphop: Nick, thank you for talking to us. What the hell happened between Misa Hylton and Mary J. Blige?
Nick Ramcharitar: Chuck, it’s tragic. These women are closer than the biological sisters. Misa did everything she could to keep it private – calls, words, and even letters to Mary’s legal team. But after months of silence and omission, we had no choice but to apply. The lawsuit is not Plan A, but Plan Z.
AllhipHop: What triggered all this? Are there any signs that things are falling apart?
Ramcharitar: The last time they were on the Amalfi coast in August. Afterwards – Ladio was silent. No text, no phone number, no invitation. Misha attributes it to Mary being busy, but the pattern continues. Eventually, communication stopped completely.
AllhipHop: The center of this legal storm seems to be rapper Vado. Can you break it down?
Ramcharitar: It’s all about Vado. People ask, “Why do you need $5 million?” This is not random. He was supposed to tour with Mary and appear in the song in the video. None of this happened. This exposure is everything in hip-hop – radio, blog, performance. That’s how artists eat. Wador didn’t get it. He was put on hold. When you measure what he lost? $5 million may be light.
Allhiphop: Does he still sign Mary’s tag?
Ramcharitar: Yes, he is still bound to beautiful life works on his contract. But the deal locked him in and was not cashed out. This hurt his career. Meanwhile, Misa remains his manager and continues to do business.
AllhipHop: There are rumors. People say Mary may have been dating Vader. Others said the business between her and Misha was beyond tension. Is there any reason?
Ramcharitar: I stay away from personal things unless it makes sense. I know Mary is dating someone else. Misa and Mary always keep their business professionals. They are all capable black women who handle their own affairs in the classroom. Any despicable guess is that.
AllhipHop: So what exactly did Mary violate in the contract?
Ramcharitar: I can’t go into details – the strategy is active – but the paperwork is open. Wador was supposed to be open for Mary on the tour. Never happened. He should have been on the record. Nothing happened. He even received news that he would use Misa as manager. That was wild. Until today, no one – not even Misa knows why everything has changed.
AllhipHop: Have you heard anything about Mary’s team since the private lawsuit was made public?
Ramcharitar: Not a word. We sent a letter before submitting it. since then? Just subconscious posts on Instagram. But we are not going to court, we hope to resolve it.
AllhipHop: If Mary just did it right, will Misa open up the lawsuit?
Ramcharitar: Possible. If Mary stands up and respects the agreement, she can get Vader on the tour and then go back to the studio, yes, that might move the needle. But there are more things to consider: legal fees, lost opportunities, emotional distress. Misa was deeply influenced.
Allhiphop: When it comes to danger, how is she doing? Especially when the backstage Didi case rotates?
Ramcharitar: Very rough. Misa is an amazing mother. Christian and Justin (her and Diddy’s children) are great young people. But the emotional loss is real between this situation and this lawsuit. We did everything we could to avoid this battle. She didn’t want this kind of cigarette, but she stood in principle.
AllhipHop: It’s all painful. Fans see Mary and Misha as examples of black sisters. Do they have a chance to reconcile?
Ramcharitar: I hope so. Misha hopes so. These are the two women who built the empire. Together. It’s not only about the business, but about the estate. Seeing that it was a public collapse? It hurts everyone who believes in them.
AllhipHop: What will happen next when legal?
Ramcharitar: Unless we hear from Mary’s camp, we will continue to make demands for judicial intervention. This puts court proceedings into practice. Deposition, discovery, trial preparation. But again, we would rather avoid this. We still say: Let’s sit down, break the bread, and talk like family. Because it has nothing to do with headlines, it’s about getting things right.
