Michelle Obama took off the gem of pop culture in a recent podcast when she revealed herself as a devout audience of love and hip-hop: Atlanta, and a fan of the show’s outspoken patriarch Momma Dee.
The former first lady was chatting with actress Taraji P. Henson and co-hosted her brother Craig Robinson on the “IMO” podcast, when the conversation turned to reality TV.
Obama asked Henson to name her favorite scriptless series. Henson said without hesitation that she looked “a little bit” but chose Love & Hip Hop as her first choice.
Obama ignited and admitted that she was with her. “Because I know everyone knows a mom Dee,” said Henson, “They will definitely do that, adding, “You have to lie” to say.”
Obama also shared how reality TV can help her relax. She explained: “I told my husband that I was like, ‘You look at golf, I look at no script.’ “It brings me, I don’t know, it just disappoints me. ”
Henson nodded to cultural connections, saying that “the black people inside us” are associated with “calls and reactions” referring to how they yell on the screen in wild moments.
