Lil Zay Osama is facing a serious federal trial after he formally pleaded guilty to a serious firearms charge in a Brooklyn, New York, court.
The Chicago rapper (real name Isaiah Dukes) entered the plea in Brooklyn federal court on Thursday (May 30), according to the New York Daily News.
“On September 29, 2022, I knowingly possessed a machine gun in Queens County,” he said. “I know it’s wrong and illegal.”
Lil Zay Osama owned a modified machine gun — a .40-caliber Glock pistol with a switch that turned it into a fully automatic weapon — that he left behind in a ride-share car in September 2022 On the back seat.
He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.
According to arrest records obtained by HipHopDX, the “Fuck My Cousin” rapper was charged back in December 2023 with possession of a loaded machine gun, theft of stolen property over $10,000 but not more than $100,000, and possession of Guns with defaced serial numbers.
All three charges are felonies.
Fox 32 Chicago reported that the incident occurred on December 13. At that time they were policed.
Police received information about “a vehicle associated with a man suspected of being involved in an investigation into an armed robbery at a jewelry store in New York.”
It is unclear which of the three men is under suspicion for alleged crimes in New York. Lil Zay Osama’s 2022 NYC arrest also resulted from suspicious activity involving a vehicle.
Police began chasing the Chicago rapper and two of his friends when the car made a series of illegal moves. At one point, a police helicopter was even deployed to try to track the car.
