Lil Nas X needs to complete a mental health program to have felony assault charges dropped.
Lil Nas X appeared in a Los Angeles court on Monday afternoon for a hearing on his felony battery on a police officer case, Rolling Stone reported on Monday (April 6). Judge Alan Schneider ruled that the “Old Town Road” rapper, who was born Montero Hill, must participate in a mental health counseling program. The judge said the case will be dismissed as long as Lil Nas X adheres to his treatment plan and complies with all laws for the next two years.
“With treatment, he will be in much better condition and the community will be much better off,” Judge Schneider said, adding that Nas X “seems to be doing very well.”
Additionally, the 26-year-old rapper cannot possess weapons or threaten any violence during his two-year run on the show.
According to RS, after being arrested in August 2025, Lil Nas X voluntarily went to The Meadows Treatment Hospital in Arizona for self-examination. His defense lawyer Christie O’Connor told the court the two months’ detention was “an absolute success”.
Outside court, Lil Nas X smiled and gave two thumbs up as he addressed the media.
“I’m grateful. Very grateful,” he said. “It could be worse.”
“[I’m] “Just experiencing the flow of life,” he continued. When asked about his treatment, Nas X added, “I’m here, baby.”
Lil Nas When police confronted the rapper, he allegedly was naked and charged the officers. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and arrested on three felony counts of battery on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an administrative officer.
