LGP QUA will forever remember the streets he walked on, as Philadelphia officials prepare to rename the intersection of Ninth and Clearfield Streets as “The Voice of Youth” in honor of the fallen hip-hop artist.
The 30-year-old rapper known as “The Voice of Youth” was shot to death on Mother’s Day in what authorities said was a botched robbery attempt.
LGP QUA’s musical journey began in his early twenties after being released from prison, when he translated his life experiences into powerful lyrics that resonated with Philadelphia’s youth.
His impromptu speech in 2017 in response to Meek Mill’s incarceration brought him widespread recognition and a high-profile collaboration with will.I.am, while his community activism has earned him even more respect.
His Instagram documents his regular visits to the run-down Kensington neighborhood, where he hands out hot coffee and backpacks to drug addicts and those in need.
The City Council has previously honored LGP QUA’s philanthropic efforts with an official citation, recognizing his dedication to helping Philadelphia’s youth through various community initiatives.
An investigation into the murder of LGP QUA has led to the arrest of three people. Joshua Thomas-Coleman and Abdul Boyd, both 19, were initially charged with murder, conspiracy and robbery.
The third suspect, 22-year-old Amir Earley, was arrested by U.S. Marshals on Reach Street in Northeast Philadelphia after he evaded capture for two months.
Earley faces the same charges as his co-defendants, including murder, conspiracy, robbery and weapons violations. He was denied bail during his preliminary arraignment and remains in custody.
Snoop Dogg and Meek Mill publicly mourned the Philadelphia native after news broke of his death.
“Killing ambitious young bulls like this on Mother’s Day is a Philly thing,” Meek Mill posted on social media.
The street renaming ceremony on Saturday (November 8) was not just about remembrance; It symbolizes Philadelphia’s commitment to honoring those who are dedicated to improving their communities despite facing personal struggles.
