Dame Dash offered Kendrick Lamar the chance to buy a stake in Roc-A-Fella Records after an old tweet about JAY-Z and Nas resurfaced.
Back in June 2010, Kendrick wrote on X (which was Twitter at the time): “Sorry, Reasonable Doubt is better than Ilmatic… #youcanunfollowmenow.”
The post caught the attention of Dame, who posted a screenshot on Instagram on Thursday (June 6) and wrote: “@kendricklamar my third one is for sale if you want to buy it .Any serious quotes DM.
Kendrick has yet to respond publicly.
Dash owns one-third of Roc-A-Fella Records, which he co-founded in 1994 with JAY-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke.
The tycoon, who has experienced financial troubles in recent years, was recently banned from selling his stake in the legendary record label.
Dame was initially ordered by a judge to sell its stake in the company after it allegedly refused to pay an $823,000 lawsuit settlement to filmmaker Josh Weber over the 2016 film “Dear Frank.”
Hough and Biggs later opposed the sale on the legal basis that the board of directors had to approve the deal first.
Dash later explained his side of the blocked sale, saying, “In 2021, I tried to sell my stock at a public auction. Jay and Biggs sued me — or had Roc-A-Fella Inc. . sue me – and say I tried to sell all my shares.
“I am the CEO of Roc-A-Fella. All Jay did was impersonate the CEO of Roc-A-Fella. He hired an attorney on behalf of Roc-A-Fella Inc. and sued me. Compensation for Jay’s Attorney It’s money generated by me and Roc-A-Fella Inc.
Dash allegedly had no control over the sale of his shares, although label executives have said he was free to sell them to whomever he wanted.
Before making an open offer to Kendrick Lamar, the Harlem native teased selling his stake in the label to former signees Cam’ron and Ma$e.
“I’m just celebrating that I have the freedom to sell it, and I have the option to sell it to Cam and Ma$e,” he said on his America Nu Network in March.
“I’m not saying I haven’t. I love passing the torch. I love what they’re doing. They’re not folding. They’re from Harlem, we’re all here together, and it would be cool to see them run Roc-A-Fella interesting.
