Kehlani releases her new mixtape “While We Wait 2” as she continues her bitter custody battle with ex-boyfriend Javaughn Young-White.
Although Kehlani just released an album a few months ago, she’s continuing her prolific streak by releasing a follow-up to “While We Wait” in 2019.
Kehlani has completed 14 tracks and isn’t slacking off, recruiting the likes of Vince Staples, Lucky Daye and Lil Mo for the project.
The singer announced the project on her Instagram, also revealing that her favorite mixtape tracks are “Clothes Off,” “Border,” “Around,” and “Let Me Down (San Diego Interlude).”
She also wrote about the making of the album: “It meant so much to continue this feeling of World War I. We made this tape in my back room in two weeks with all the people I love dearly. Thank you. All thanks to my writing friends, my engineers and my team. It was a relaxing process and no one thought too hard. Hope you enjoy it.

“While We Wait 2” comes out at a time when the “Gangster” singer is embroiled in a custody dispute with her ex-boyfriend over their daughter.
Kehlani first accused Young White of being abusive during their relationship and obtained a temporary restraining order against him.

Young White was quick to deny the claims and claimed Kehlani was actually the abuser in their relationship.
Young White has shared several text messages between him and the “Nowhere Fast” hitmaker that appear to contradict her account of him breaking down the door in a rage.

Vaughn-White also claimed Kehlani had a history of making false rape and abuse accusations when relationships broke down. He accused her of lying about being raped after she was found to have been unfaithful to ex-girlfriend Kiara Russell.
In legal documents filed on behalf of Kehlani, Young-White allegedly threatened the singer’s safety, consumed large amounts of drugs and posed a danger to their children while on the drug.

A judge granted Kehlani a temporary restraining order against Young-White, banning him from coming within 100 yards of her and their children until a hearing next month.
