Fat Joe serves as host of the 2024 BET Awards. The veteran rapper did his thing in a series of clips and speeches. The most surprising bit of the night, however, was pre-taped. BET aired a two-minute interview in which Kamala Harris addressed a variety of policies and issues. Attendees included Fat Joe and Too Short. Harris gave her two cents on the importance of voting, but no one expected she would attack her opponent, Donald Trump, so bluntly.
Harris told Fat Joe and others that Trump’s “Plan 2025” initiative will be detrimental to middle-class families. She urged voters to Google the initiative and do their own research before voting for the former president. “It would do things like eliminate overtime pay,” Kamala Harris noted. “It would eliminate the Department of Education, including Head Start. [It’d] Trying to destroy our democracy and really turning against the middle class.
Kamala Harris claims her opponents are ‘weak’

“You should never let anyone silence you,” Kamala Harris added. “Because when you vote, you have the power to decide the future of our country.” The real dig, however, came at the end of the interview. The Vice President tore into Trump’s character as Fat Joe sat to her right. “Here’s a man who’s going to be like, ‘Hey, support me because I’m strong,'” she asserted. “But he’s weak.” That’s not what most BET Awards viewers were expecting, but it’s definitely one of the most compelling parts of the show.
Fat Joe made his political allegiance to Kamala Harris clear on air. The “Scary Squad” star enlisted Las Vegas Congressman Steven Horsford to help him spread the word about the importance of voting. Horsford told hip-hop fans to celebrate and protect the culture by voting for Harris. Fat Joe also made some political remarks at the ceremony. “Look, you all know we shouldn’t be talking about politics at parties, we should be voting,” he told the audience. He also took a shot at Trump. He praised Kamala Harris for her efforts to forgive student debt, then criticized Trump for “trying to bring back stop and frisk.”
