After not giving any interviews in a long time, Jay-Z recently spoke with GQ magazine. Naturally, when Hough spoke, people began to speculate about his thoughts on the current state of hip-hop culture.
While talking about various topics, Jay-Z ended up talking about Kendrick’s feud with Drake, even saying that he gave Kendrick a spot in the Super Bowl because he had a “monster year.” He clarified that none of this was meant to piss off Drake — as Hough, he doesn’t need to.
Amidst all this, the mogul also made two points about the nature of rap beef. In particular, Jay felt that Kendrick and Drake’s fight was a little too much and he almost wished it didn’t happen. For him, the best way to handle beef is to remain competitive while working together.
That’s all well and good, but rapper Joey Bada$$ chose to express his thoughts on social media platform He believes the reason why rappers don’t let other rappers be included on their records is because they’re worried about getting “physical” on their own tracks.
To him, this is perhaps the only reason why JID did not appear on the album. At the same time, he also clarified that the claims he was making were not limited to just one or two artists, and that he did not want to single out any specific people for what appeared to be a widespread issue. Look what he said!

I really like this game man. I have been a true player in this sport for some time and everything I say is something I stand by and I can back up all my statements. I have a real love for niggas and I could use a million other examples to back up what I’m saying but that’s the most…

When people say I’m clout-chasing or attention-seeking, I usually just speak my mind, which is funny. The only reason you’re hearing from me today is because of Hov’s interview. May peace be with you!
