Those Kendrick Lamar fans who dreamed of singing along to “Not Like Us” at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show may be in for a rude awakening.

Rumor has it that an NFL boss is calling on the “Euphoria” lyricist to show restraint during his biggest live performance to date. Multiple sources say the league has asked Kendrick to avoid performing his scathing Drake diss song – which famously compared the Canadian rapper to a pedophile.

As rumors of the so-called “Not Like Us” Super Bowl embargo spread across social media, many users reacted and gave their 20 cents.

“No, really, if ‘Not Like Us’ is removed from the Super Bowl, people better sing the whole song out of love for culture and hip-hop and love for Kendrick!” one Twitter user tweeted assertion.

Another user speculated, “I wonder if this whole lawsuit is just to stop Kendrick from performing ‘Not Like Us’ at the Super Bowl.” The user continued, “Imagine being such a sore loser and now you Always look like a*ssy a*sb*tch. “

Another user concluded, “atp kendricks’ only song at the super bowl better not be like the one we play six times in a row.”

Reports that the NFL asked “Not Like Us” to be removed from Kendrick’s playlist come on the heels of growing legal disputes surrounding the song’s targeting. After withdrawing his legal petition against Spotify and UMG on January 14, Drake’s legal counsel instead filed a lawsuit against UMG, claiming they launched a campaign to disparage Kendrick Lamar by promoting his “Not Like Us” diss song Names and music. On January 15, a Universal Music Group (UMG) official shared a response with Variety in which the company not only denied that Drake’s claims had any validity, but suggested that he was using the lawsuit to prevent Lamar from doing what they helped What he does to other artists.

Regardless, Kendrick’s performance of the song seems almost confirmed, based on his surprising GNX album track “TV Off,” in which the Compton emcee drops a cryptic bar, seemed imbued with his intentions for the halftime show.

“Walking in New Orleans with LA yellin/MUSTAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRD,” Kendrick raps on the track.
