Ice-T joins forces with hip-hop giants Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Prince Arabia to executive produce Tehk City, a neo-noir animated series set in a brutal near-future penal colony.
The collaboration marks a rare fusion of rap royalty on the small screen, with the quartet teaming up with producer Ambitious Entertainment to create what is being described as a “high-octane animated neo-noir” in which “every choice is a matter of life or death, chaos reigns and only the ruthless survive.”
According to Deadline, the series stems from an aesthetic created by animator Tommy The Animator, who co-created the series with Ice-T. Both serve as producers and executive producers alongside the legendary trio of West Coast rap pioneers. Arabian Prince was a founding member of the NWA and rounded out the star-studded production team.
“I just wanted to bring something new to animation that hadn’t been seen before, something that came from the minds of Black creators in projects on Manhattan’s Upper West Side,” Ice-T said.
Industry veterans Ken Corben, Kirk Shaw and Thomas Vitale also serve as showrunners and executive producers on the project, with Rusty Cundeiff serving as producer. Shaw, whose credits include The Hurt Locker and Bloodline, emphasized the ambitious scope of the project.
“Tehk City is one of those rare projects created by an exceptional team effort,” explains Shaw. “We are creating a world that only animation can capture, where morality is a luxury and the visual style is as intense as the story itself.”
The animated series represents a departure from the traditional hip-hop media enterprise, focusing on original storytelling rather than biographical content. The project capitalizes on the growing interest in adult animated shows, which have seen success with shows like Invincible and The Boys: Demons.
Ambitious Entertainment aims to release Tehk City on multiple platforms in 2026.
The collaboration brings together artists who have been shaping hip-hop culture for over three decades. Dr. Dre’s production empire, Snoop Dogg’s multimedia ventures, and Ice-T’s crossover success in television with “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” provide animation companies with tremendous industry credibility.
