Jalen Carter found himself at the controversy center Sunday, but the Philadelphia’s defensive wingman won’t face a suspension when Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spits during the intensified NFC East Clash.
According to USA Today Sports, league officials confirmed the ban “is not on the table”, although the NFL is still reviewing the incident. The source was anonymous as the investigation was still underway.
Carter was thrown away after officials marked the non-movement behavior. The dispute took place in the first quarter after Hawks guard Ben Vansumeren suffered an injury at the opening kickoff. As the players honed around the 30-yard line, Carter and Prescott exchanged words before spitting occurred.
Referee Shawn Smith talked about the catapult, calling it “an in-game foul inappropriate” and labeling it “non-football behavior.”
Asked later, Prescott downplayed the situation. “I think you can say that he’s trolling, trying to be with Taylor Booker,” Prescott said. “I’m just looking at him. I’m just in the place where two linemen are, I think I need to spit, and I’m not spitting on my linemen, I just spitting.
Prescott is in the cowboy’s huddle and then walks to Carter. He then leaned against the offensive winger’s shoulder and spitted a defensive tackle towards the famous Hawks. Carter didn’t seem to be hit by spit, but seemed offended.
“This is a mistake that happened around me, and it won’t happen again,” Carter said. “I’m sad, just for my teammates and fans.
Spitting suspension doesn’t happen often, but it can be a fine.
Carter avoided missing more game time, but his move lost a major victory for Philadelphia’s biggest rival there.
