Williams and eight of his associates, some from Memphis, “performed an armed takeover.” According to the U.S. Department of Justice, while the three men were in the music studio, Williams “signed a release form from her record contract at gunpoint at one of the victims” after pulling out an AK-style handgun. The remaining co-conspirators also pulled out guns and robbed other victims of items such as Rolex watches, jewelry and cash.
Williams Jr. was released from prison in October 2025 after serving three years on firearms charges in Miami, Florida, after pleading guilty to conspiring to possess a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime and drug trafficking. Williams was on home detention at the time of the robbery and kidnapping in January on the condition that he not commit any further felonies or possess a firearm.
