The woman currently on trial for Foolio’s murder told her best friend in a text message that the rapper needed to die in 2021.
The trial of Alicia Andrews continues on Thursday (October 23) at the Hillsborough County Courthouse in Florida. Andrews is one of five suspects charged with Foolio’s murder in 2024 and the first to go to trial. The next day, Andrews’ best friend took the stand and was asked about the gang war in Jacksonville, Florida, and Andrews’ relationship with alleged gang member Isaiah Chance, a co-defendant in the case.
Prosecutors also grilled the witness about several text messages between her and Andrews in which they discussed the killings resulting from gang violence among local rappers in Jacksonville. In a text message sent to a witness in January 2021, Andrews wrote:
“Girl, I don’t like Foolio LMFAOO. Ugly bastard. He needs to die. Damn, that’s Will’s friend. Fuck the code. Oh my God, he shot me and my friend died??? Yeah, I’m going to point out who did it.”
When asked what Andrews meant by her comment, the friend responded: “Well, she was referring to someone we knew who had just passed away. We were basically just chatting.”
Alicia Andrews faces premeditated first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges in the death of Forio, who prosecutors say was killed during an ongoing gang war in Jacksonville.
Foolio was celebrating his 26th birthday when he was shot to death in a Holiday Inn parking lot in Tampa, Florida, on June 23, 2024. Prosecutors said Andrews and her boyfriend, Isaiah Chance, followed Foolio around Tampa from Jacksonville and informed his location to the men accused of shooting the rapper: Sean Gathright, Rashad Murphy and Davion Murphy. The other four suspects are scheduled to stand trial next spring.
Testimony in the trial begins on Wednesday (October 22). On the first day, harrowing testimony was provided by Forio’s friend, who suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound in the shooting that killed Forio.
