Fetty Wap continued to maintain a presence in hip-hop culture while serving a six-year sentence for drug trafficking. The “Trap Queen” rapper recently appeared in a new prison photo as fans called for his freedom.
The New Jersey native, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, was sentenced in 2023 and is expected to be released from prison on March 13, 2027. Despite being incarcerated, Fetty Wap continues to stay in touch with fans through occasional updates from prison.
A new photo of the multi-platinum artist recently surfaced online, showing him confidently posing for the camera in his prison uniform. The photo was accompanied by a heartfelt message that read, “Release you bro. We miss you and love you #KZ.” The snap quickly circulated among fans, many of whom continued to support him and demand his release.
Supporters have not given up on ensuring Fetty Wap’s early freedom. Previous efforts have included launching clemency petitions to reduce his sentence, but those attempts have so far been unsuccessful. The latest news on the chart-topping artist has been limited, leaving fans hungry for more news as they await his return to music.
Meanwhile, Fetty Wap’s family remains clamoring to bring him home as soon as possible. His sister, Divinity Maxwell-Butts, called for a commutation of his sentence on Instagram earlier this year, linking her message to the Second Chance Month observances in April.
“April is Second Chance Month — a time to recognize that people deserve redemption, not just punishment,” she wrote. “My brother has accepted responsibility and served more than half of his sentence for a non-violent crime. He is scheduled to be released in 2027. But justice should also mean mercy. His sentence should be reduced so he can go home to his family, his children, and his purpose. It’s time. #PardonFetty #SecondChanceMonth #BringHimHome.”

The rapper’s supporters remain hopeful that mercy will prevail and that the artist behind hits like “My Way” will be reunited with his family and fans soon. Even while serving time in prison, Fetty Wap’s presence in the culture remains undeniable.
