Jonathan Hay is firing back at comedian Dave Chappelle after he defended Sean “Diddy” Combs on the Netflix special “Unstoppable.” Hay accused Chappelle of turning the documented assault into comedy material while defending his attacker.
“I am deeply disturbed by the repeated expressions of support for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in his latest Netflix special, ‘Unstoppable,'” Hay said in a statement to Deadline.
Chappelle defended Diddy in a Dec. 19 Netflix special, comparing his Mann Act conviction to the racially motivated persecution of boxer Jack Johnson.
The comedian said Combs “saved my life” after he was attacked during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in 2022.
Chappelle told the audience that he went to Diddy’s home after the incident at the Hollywood Bowl. When Diddy asked him what he “liked,” he joked that he missed a “great opportunity.”
“You know me, I was like, ‘I don’t know… books, video games.’ I didn’t know this was my big opportunity to fuck Cassie,” Chappelle said in the special.
Hay filed sexual assault charges against Diddy in 2020 and 2021. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation into the allegations last month.
He claims that in 2021, Diddy forced him to perform oral sex while Notorious BIG’s son CJ Wallace was present. Hay claims Diddy climaxed on a shirt Biggie once owned, threw it to Hay and said: “RIP Biggie.”
Diddy’s legal team denies all accusations, calling them “false and defamatory.” Hay called Chappelle “my favorite comedian of all time,” but said the jokes reopened survivors’ wounds.
“Chappell attempted to downplay the horrific situation involving Cassie Ventura, turning her documented physical assault into a joke while casually admitting that he once ‘missed the opportunity to have sex with her,'” Hay said.
“As someone who experienced Coombs’ sexual assault firsthand, these moments are not abstract punchlines, they are relentless triggers that reopen wounds for survivors like me,” Hay said.
The Notorious BIG’s son CJ Wallace has filed a defamation lawsuit against Hay after he was accused of taking part in the alleged attack.
Wallace’s attorney called Hay’s claims “ridiculous and baseless.”
Didi was convicted of transporting prostitution in July. He is serving four years in a New Jersey prison and will not be free until mid-2028.
Unstoppable is currently the number one TV show on Netflix.
