Kim Kardashian has revealed that she failed to pass the bar exam, preventing her from achieving her dream of becoming a lawyer.
“Well…I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a well-dressed lawyer on TV,” she revealed on Instagram, referring to her new show All’s Fair.
“Six years into my legal journey, I’m still giving it my all until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up, just more learning and more determination,” Kim Kardashian said.
Last week, she blamed artificial intelligence for derailing her latest attempt to pass the California bar exam, even as she continues to make waves in criminal justice reform.
The reality star and entrepreneur revealed that ChatGPT provided her with misleading answers while studying, which led to her facing challenges on her law exam.
“I failed the exam 3 times in 2 years, but each time I got back up, studied harder, and tried again until I passed!!!” she previously posted, reflecting on her struggles with the playpen.
Kardashian began her legal journey through the California Apprenticeship Program in 2018, bypassing law school in favor of hands-on instruction.
The first-year law student examination, often referred to as the “baby pen”, proved to be a significant obstacle. She failed three times and finally passed in 2021.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far. Failure is not failure, it is fuel. I am so close to passing and this only motivates me more. Let’s go!” she added.
Despite her academic obstacles, Kardashian has attracted national attention for her work outside of the classroom.
Kardashian first entered the criminal justice spotlight defending Alice Marie Johnson, a woman serving a life sentence for a non-violent drug offense. Johnson was released in 2018 after Kardashian personally lobbied the White House.
Since then, the SKIMS founder has helped release more than 17 incarcerated people. Her efforts have transcended individual cases to advance broader sentencing reform and rehabilitation programs.
Her legal ambitions have not been without criticism. Social media users often mock her for repeatedly failing exams, but Kardashian is undeterred.
She spent seven years studying law, balancing her legal goals with a business empire and public image.
Kardashian even said she would quit reality TV to focus on becoming a full-time lawyer. That commitment earned her praise from politicians and criminal justice advocates.
