Daddy Yankee filed a $250 million lawsuit against ex-wife Mireddys González, accusing her of financial misconduct and defamation in a sharp escalation.
Once celebrated as high school lovers, their romance has been spread over nearly three decades, and the former couple’s relationship turned into a painful court conflict.
Idols of the Puerto Rico’s reggae empire claim that Gonzalez and her sister Ayeicha Gonzalez Castellanos unfortunately caused both of his businesses, causing huge financial harm.
According to court documents, Dad Yankee asserted: “Mireddys and Ayeicha Gonzalez Castellanos continue to assume greater power than allowed and jointly make reckless and selfish decisions that are harmful to the company and Mr. Ayala Rodriguez (Daddy Yankee).
The lawsuit further accused Gonzalez and his siblings of plotting a slander campaign to undermine the reputation of dad Yankee, thus exacerbating already emotional controversy.
After the lawsuit was released, González, a well-known entrepreneur and mother of two of his father, Daddy Yankee, entered her social media page to share mysterious and sharp messages.
She released a quote drawn next to Bible passages and candid images without directly addressing these allegations.
One post specifically states: “Don’t have empathy for those who treat you badly”, while another post puts forward a reflective idea: “Emotional attachment is the prison of the soul; it allows you to see the virtues that do not exist and hope there is no place.”
The former couple formally dissolved their marriage on February 18 and determined the divorce through a virtual court meeting.
Instead of meeting face to face, they were engaged remotely with their respective lawyers’ offices, emphasizing their tense relationship status.
Dad Yankee and González got married as early as 1995, as he rose to global fame with the hit single “Gasolina”.
Their relationship is often portrayed openly as stability and support, and Gonzalez often attends events with superstars and manages all aspects of his business empire.
Now, the legal struggle paints a very different picture revealing the deep rifts in the surface of the alliance they once experienced.
