According to local officials, the roof of a nightclub collapsed after a crowded Melenger concert in the Dominican Republic collapsed, killing 124 people and injuring 160 people, responding to visible grief.
The Bronx-born rapper’s roots returned to the Dominican Republic and Trinidad, and he brought to her BG Secret Society Instagram channel to express sadness over the tragedy that unfolded Tuesday night at Jet Set, a famous Santo Domingo venue.
Cardi B said: “My Dominicans were rescued from some witty lives, some disappeared, I cried and rolled down my schedule.” “I was sad to see my family crying desperately and painfully looking for a lover…I feel that every Dominican around the world is in a big Hora Santa (Holy Time), praying for the survivors and for those in the glory of the gods.”
Authorities said the roof gave way during a live show to capture the people at the concert inside. Among the dead is a beloved Melenger singer Rubby Pérez, whose voice has become a staple for generations.
He is 69 years old.
Cardi B added: “For those who have lost their family or friends, they have no bad memories, they have left the earth to sing and dance, and they are likely to be happy and enjoy themselves, and that’s how the Lord will accept them (sic).
The Grammy-winning artist ended her message by honoring Perez’s legacy and urging her followers to keep their victim’s minds.
“It’s heartbreaking to see one of our iconic artists Perez leave in a tragic way. I’m glad that our ultimate memory of him was that he shared his beautiful voice with us…the last time he sang. I hope my fans pray for those (sic) in that building last night.”
Authorities confirmed the death toll and injuries continued to resume work throughout the evening on Wednesday.
