Cardi B offered sharp criticism of the Trump administration’s food aid policies during a Twitter Spaces session on Saturday (October 18). She warned that families may struggle to afford Thanksgiving meals due to recent cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
“People were complaining that they were taking food stamps,” the Grammy-winning artist said. “Thanksgiving is next month and some of you don’t have a turkey.”
The Bronx native reminded the audience that she had previously issued warnings during her campaign in support of Vice President Kamala Harris.
“These are the things I’m trying to tell you when I talk about the Trump administration,” she said. “But all you care about is that I say ‘shrimp.'”
Cardi B’s comments come as millions of Americans face the possibility of losing food assistance benefits.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the Trump administration’s “Big Beautiful Act of 2025” would cut SNAP funding by about $186 billion by 2034.

The legislation tightens work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents.
Starting in late 2025, many low-income adults will lose SNAP eligibility. These changes affect nearly 3 million young people across the country.
Waivers in about 20 states are set to end on November 2, 2025, potentially affecting thousands of families.
States with SNAP error rates above 6% will lose federal funding starting in fiscal year 2028.
Food aid advocates warn that SNAP cuts will have a significant impact on households and the broader economy. State officials say the potential suspension of benefits would be devastating to vulnerable populations.
Cardi B’s criticism comes at a time of rising food costs and economic uncertainty. Many families rely on SNAP benefits to supplement their grocery budgets, especially during the holidays.
The rapper also criticized tariffs for driving up the prices of luxury goods and everyday items. She emphasized that when public programs face cuts, working-class families will bear the burden.
Cardi B is actively campaigning for Harris during the 2024 presidential election. She spoke at a rally in Milwaukee in November, describing Trump as a “bully” and saying she was initially reluctant to vote until Harris changed her mind.
“I wasn’t planning on voting, but Kamala changed my mind,” she said at the Wisconsin event. The rapper wore an all-white outfit while delivering her endorsement speech.
