Brent Faiyaz is finally back with his most anticipated piece of music. Yes, the artist has finally released the Icon album on all streaming platforms.
The 10-track project is just the right length to be defined as slowing down life in the fast lane, while Brent prefers a relaxed, sensual flow at a leisurely pace. The album opens with “White Noise,” a song that effectively avoids any vocal performance. In a bold opening, the artist lets the music speak for itself before trying to string the words together.
The song title is also interesting and doesn’t start with a capital first letter as one would expect. Instead, they stand out like parts of staccato sentences, each ending with a “period.” Maybe there’s something to be said about being inserted in the middle of an idea, with the ending intact, intentionally indicated by a “.”
Thematically, the artist explores intimacy, meditates on the senses, reflects on time with a partner, and often captures the complexities of romantic relationships. Of course, this only scratches the surface of the experience. Check it out for yourself!
