Beyoncé has issued a legal warning to the Trump campaign, asking them to stop using her song “Freedom” in political materials.
The conflict was sparked after the former president’s team played the 2016 national anthem in a video circulating online showing Donald Trump getting off a plane and arriving in Michigan.
Although the post has since been deleted, the incident prompted the “Crazy in Love” singer to take action.
There are reports that the song “Freedom” was also prominently used in Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign with Beyoncé’s explicit permission.
Despite not officially endorsing Harris, Beyoncé has packed her schedule to attend fundraisers in support of Harris.
The move comes after Beyonce’s inner circle raised concerns about Trump’s “Project 2025” plan.
This isn’t the first time the Trump campaign has used music without authorization.
They faced criticism from Celine Dion after she played her hit song “My Heart Will Go On” at a rally in Montana earlier this month.
A representative for Dion issued a statement stressing: “This use is in no way authorized, nor does Celine Dion endorse this or any similar use.”
Trump is also being sued by the estate of Isaac Hayes for using the Sam and Dave classic “Hold On, I’m Coming,” which he co-wrote, at a campaign rally without permission.
