On April 11, 2026, Bronx battle rapper Fox 5 was shot and killed by the New York Police Department after attacking commuters with a machete at Grand Central Station.
Battle rapper Fox 5 has been identified as the man killed following a violent confrontation with NYPD officers at Grand Central Station on Saturday morning.
At 9:50 a.m., a 44-year-old man attacked three elderly commuters with a machete on the subway platform, slashing an 85-year-old man on the head, a 65-year-old man on the head, and a 70-year-old woman on the shoulder.
When traffic police arrived at the scene, he called himself “Lucifer” and was acting strangely.
Two NYPD detectives working overtime working on traffic safety ordered Fox 5 to drop their weapons at least 20 times, but he refused all orders.

Police Chief Jessica Tish said officers “tried to de-escalate the situation” and offer help, telling him “we’re going to help you,” the New York Post reported. Instead, Fox 5 extended the blade at the officers, forcing a detective to fire his weapon twice, striking the rapper and ending the threat.
Respected rap veteran Mickey Factz confirmed to Fox 5 on social media that he is a Bronx rapper suffering from mental health issues.
Fatts’ admission draws attention to the tragedy and highlights how mental illness can have devastating consequences. Fox 5 has made previous arrests, including one for making threats with a sharp object, suggesting a pattern of unresolved crises.
The three victims were transported to local hospitals in stable condition and Fox 5 was transported to Bellevue Hospital where they were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The two officers involved were receiving treatment for ringing in their ears caused by the gunfire.
Former rapper and Mayor Zohran Mamdani issued a statement thanking the NYPD for its quick response and preventing further violence.
The NYPD announced it would release body camera footage of the incident, as it does with all officer-involved shootings.
