Is there a more outspoken celebrity than Azealia Banks? She can make someone like Kanye West look good. As it turns out, the rapper has been both scorned and praised for his bold social media statements. She will blame anyone, no matter who they are or how protective their fan base is. Kamala Harris is no exception. Despite endorsements from the likes of Beyoncé, Eminem and Rihanna, Harris has fallen victim to Azealia Banks multiple times. That’s why it was an unexpected twist when the rapper announced she was joining Team Kamala.
Azealia Banks announced her decision on November 4. In fact, Banks felt the need to insult Harris a few times while explaining her reasoning. “Kamala Harris is stupid and incoherent,” she wrote on Twitter. “Like trash [Tim] Walz is, even though Kamala Harris is the only Democratic candidate not actively campaigning in the primaries…” It’s not a ringing endorsement by any standards, however, Azeli Ya Banks (sort of) landed the plane.
Azealia Banks wants to stop Elon Musk from taking power
The rapper’s reason for voting for Harris/Walz is that she can’t stand Elon Musk. The Tesla founder and Twitter owner has become a key figure in Trump’s campaign. Trump even claimed that if elected, he would appoint Musk as chairman of the Council on Government Efficiency. This is something Azealia Banks cannot tolerate. “I really think keeping Elon Musk away from any kind of political power…is equated with any of the issues being discussed here,” she wrote. “You’d have to be a complete idiot to think that bastard cares about anyone or anything other than himself.”
Azealia Banks went on to list all of her other issues with the Trump campaign. It’s clear that she has more negative things to say about Harris than positive things about him, but it still amounts to an endorsement. Ironically, Banks’ statement comes just days after she participated in Cardi B’s event in support of Kamala Harris. Banks mocked Cardi’s performance at a recent campaign rally and accused her of leaning into a “dumb Latina look.” Now it looks like both rappers have landed in the same place.
