Azealia Banks is demanding $1 million from Matty Healy after the rapper’s online feud with 1975 frontman Matty Healy escalated.
The dispute began in a social media exchange and on Sunday, Azealia Banks shared a cease-and-desist letter drafted by her attorney, Wallace J. Collins III. Reached new heights.
The letter targets what Healey calls “threats of violence” and slander, accusing the British musician of using harmful language, including racial slurs, against Banks and making comments that damage her professional reputation.
Banks also cited a specific example in which Healy reportedly threatened to “slap her hard in the face” during a public argument.
The conflict initially stemmed from Banks’ comments on a post about Charli XCX, a mutual acquaintance of Healy’s bandmate George Daniel.
“Since your global online posting, your attacks on my client’s professional reputation, your overt racial epithets, and your recent threats of physical violence against my client have all been documented,” Collins wrote in the letter. “He claimed he had screenshots of Healy. Deleted the comment.
Collins called Healy’s actions malicious and malicious, prompting the rapper to demand a legal solution.
Banks demanded a public apology and a $1 million settlement to avoid litigation.
The letter continued: “Your removal of the damaging offensive post and admission that your response was inappropriate does not undo the damage but rather constitutes evidence of your admission of guilt.”
While Healy’s rep has yet to respond publicly, the singer addressed the controversy on social media.
In a series of posts on X and Reddit, the musician apologized for his actions and expressed regret.
“I’m just scared of what I did,” he wrote. “I think Azealia…has a heart, and I hate that I exacerbated her mental fragility. She’s a human being.
