Two daring rooftop raiders pulled off a high-stakes heist at an Atlanta check cashing store and stole a wad of cash!
Although the robbery may sound like the plot of a Hollywood movie, two daring robbers actually pulled off a dramatic cash grab at an Atlanta check register earlier this month. The robbers took away a total of $150,000! Believe it or not, the daring robbers didn’t just break in – they actually fell from the ceiling! According to reports, on the morning of September 3, as an unsuspecting employee was preparing to open her store on Martin Luther King Boulevard, two masked suspects broke through the ceiling and threw her to the ground. The vicious duo, described as “well prepared”, quickly overpowered the worker and demanded to know where the cash was hidden.
“They went through the ceiling – it’s crazy,” exclaimed local Fred Stewart, who often cashed checks at the store but luckily wasn’t present during the robbery.
The robbers forced the frightened employees to lead them to the company’s safe, which they emptied within minutes. They didn’t stop there, the pair ransacked the cash box before wrapping the employee in duct tape before fleeing the scene with a bag filled with $150,000 in cash.
“She wasn’t hurt, but she was taped shut,” one witness said of the experience.
Fortunately, the worker is recovering from the shocking incident, but the community is still shocked by the audacity of the robbery. Investigators are currently hunting the masked suspects, who apparently did their homework before pulling off the elaborate robbery.
“This was definitely not a spur-of-the-moment crime,” a police spokesman said. “They studied the layout of the building and knew exactly how to act.”
As the search for the robbers intensifies, locals are beginning to wonder whether businesses near them will ever feel safe again. “I hope they catch these people and recover the money,” Stewart added.
The robbery is just the latest in a series of high-stakes cash grabs across the country. In June, a group in Los Angeles stole $200,000 after breaking into a bank vault, and earlier this year, a robbery at a Miami jewelry store netted thieves more than $300,000 in diamonds.
