Lil Baby is associated with a gang-related hatred that led to the death of two teenagers, who were killed the day after the video shot last year.
At a press conference Wednesday (February 16), Atlanta police announced the arrest of seven people linked to the fatal shootings of 13-year-old Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman.
Authorities claim that the boy’s death stems from a gangster war, a shooting in a May 2024 music video shoot that allegedly triggered a series of retaliatory shootings and homicides.
The teenager was ambushed while celebrating Freeman’s birthday in July 2024, and police accused the killings as a direct result of ongoing conflict. An 11-year-old man, who was not named, was also reportedly shot dead.
Major Ralph Woolfolk called Lil Baby’s behavior “cowardly”, saying he entered a hostile gang stronghold, and he knew he shouldn’t do it.
“Lamont Friedman was allowed to be a 13-year-old for 27 minutes, and then gang violence eventually took his life. Gang violence orchestrated by adults,” Woolfock said.
He continued: “A Atlanta-based rapper’s coward performance, decided to enter the opponent’s gang stronghold and shoot music videos where he knew he shouldn’t. Over the next few days we saw homicides and shootings and, ultimately, the death of two children due to his cowardly behavior.”
Atlanta PD works “relatively” to let the baby take charge of shooting
Investigators say a senior member of the Lil Baby gang, who opposed the Lil Baby gang, called for a blow from Georgia prison, according to WSB-TV Atlanta. The person was not confirmed.
Although Woolfolk did not mention Lil Baby’s name, the media confirmed that he was a rapper.
“You know who you are,” Woolfock spoke directly to Lil Baby. “And I tell you that this team will work tirelessly to keep you and the people you are responsible for these actions.”
Atlanta PD offers a $50,000 reward for additional information about the case.
