Akon is the latest music industry professional to comment on the multiple scandals Diddy is currently negotiating over alleged sexual assault and misconduct, and he struck a relatively sympathetic tone.
TMZ caught up with the “Lonely” hitmaker at LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Friday (April 5) and asked him about the ongoing lawsuits and investigations in the bad boy mogul empire.
“The thing is I don’t party much, so I can’t say much about it,” he said of the infamous “Didi parties” that recurred throughout the unfolding ordeal. “But I would say, you know… pray for this person. God knows best — whatever happens, God will handle it.
“It’s very unfortunate that things in this industry always come to light in some way, and I think things could have gone a different way, but I think it’s a matter of God continuing to deal with how He deals with it.”
He added: “Ultimately, this is the year of truth. Things will be exposed, but how and to whom […] Everyone must take responsibility for what we do on Earth. “
Last month, Fat Joe joined the crowd as Diddy’s legal troubles worsened.
The Terror Squad leader sat down with Hot 97 in late March, in which he shared his thoughts on the New York native’s current predicament.
“What I can say in the most respectful way is that I don’t know all the details,” Joe said. “But I’ve been praying for him and his family. He’s been a friend of mine for 30 years. So, I’ll see how that plays out and I’ll pray for the best for him, his family and everybody involved.”
He continued: “So I’m not disrespecting anyone. I’m just praying for this whole situation – this whole nightmare – I’m praying that it goes away.”
Last week, Maino expressed his solidarity with Diddy in an interview with The Baller Alert Show and compared the numerous lawsuits against the hip-hop veteran to the FBI’s COINTELPRO (counterintelligence program), which targeted the Black Panthers The Party and others are regarded as subversive organizations.
“[I]If you understand the ’60s and what they did with black leadership, these were some of the tactics,” he said. “To destroy you, they basically divide and conquer.
“COINTELPRO, what they will do is put out the wrong message. Let’s look at each other. They send out letters, they put out messages saying, this person talked about that person, this person was caught doing it. It makes us disorganized. Also, Propaganda through the media is a tool that is used all the time.”
