Ice Cube may or may not be biased, but his vote for the best diss song in hip-hop history is his own “No Vaseline.”

The legendary rapper made this statement to the audience at a recent show as the diss track was highly discussed during the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef.

“‘No Vaseline’ is the best diss song in the history of hip-hop, and I’ll tell you why,” Cube said of the infamous NWA diss. “One MC, myself, I took out four assholes and their manager. You can’t beat it. You can’t beat it.

“But we did it over 30 years ago, so what’s happening today is, I have nothing but love for NWA, okay? Just love for Dr. Dre, only love for MC Ren, DJ Yella and Eazy-E Love, rest in peace.

This is nothing new for the West Coast native.

Last year, in a conversation with DJ Whoo Kid, Ice Cube teased The Root’s ranking of “The Most Memorable Diss Tracks in Hip-Hop History,” which placed “No Vaseline” at No. 3 and 2Pac’s “Hit’ Em” ranked third.

“What happened to 2Pac when he needed help on this record?” Cube questioned, referring to The Outlawz, who also raps on the song. “Me, ‘No Vaseline,’ a host. I love Nas, but that’s not the case.

“Killed four n-ggas and the manager. I mean, damn! I have to take credit for that,” he continued. “[The] The group is over. I don’t know if they will set another record after that. So, no, man. sorry!

Ice Cooper’s comments were supported by his peers on social media, with people starting to echo them after clips of his interviews resurfaced via The Art of Conversation on Twitter.

Showing a united front with Straight Outta Compton MC, California rapper Glasses Malone said: “Agreed top 3 diss records of all time 1. No Vaseline 2. Ether 3. Hit me.”

Snoop Dogg agrees with Cube.

“Hands down, he did it. Nothing comes close.” DJ Tony Neal, founder of the Core DJs collective, agrees with that assessment. “Other than ‘Hit ‘Em Up,’ nothing comes close,” He said.

“No Vaseline”, released in October 1991, appeared on Ice Cube’s second solo album “Death Certificate”. Dr. Dre left NWA shortly after its release, leading to the group’s disbandment.
