Busta Rhymes has a presence. This can be seen from his breakout performance on the Tribe Called Quest posse cut “Scenario.” The rapper’s unforgettable music videos in the mid-1990s only furthered the vibe, and at the same time he hit the big screen, reaching the pinnacle of success. Busta’s impressive performances in films like “Higher Education” and “Shaft” make the prospect of him returning to the big screen so exciting.
Busta Rhymes has joined the cast of the upcoming remake of the 1988 comedy classic The Naked Gun. His role has yet to be revealed, but he will star alongside a star-studded cast of military veterans. Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson and Paul Walter Houser have signed on to star in the remake, alongside character actors CCH Pounder and Danny Huston.

Busta Rhymes hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2016

“The Naked Gun” will be Busta’s first film in nearly a decade. He was last seen on screen in 2016’s Dancehall, a musical directed by Nick Cannon. Since then, Busta has been limited to talk show appearances and one-time guest appearances as himself on shows like Master of None and Fresh Off the Boat. The rapper spoke to The Oklahoman in 2000 about the joy he gets from performing.
“There’s a lot less wear and tear on performance,” he points out. “You have the opportunity to jump around and be a thousand different people and it’s not a problem. With music, most of the time the market and consumers are very stubborn. They don’t want you to make a difference to what they know and what they know. What a big change.
The actor also noted that working with stars like Samuel L. Jackson and Sean Connery helped hone his acting skills. “You respect not only your elders, but also those who learn from you,” he explained. “I’m here to learn. I will never have the chance to be with Sean Connery in my life.” “The Naked Gun” is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2025.
