Rapper Jim Jones defended himself during a violent altercation with two men at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport that was filmed and widely shared online.
The confrontation broke out as they walked onto the airport escalator. Although the exact motive for the conflict is unclear, the situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
In the video obtained by TMZ, Jim Jones can clearly be seen punching one of the men, throwing him down an escalator like a sack of potatoes, creating a large gash in the man’s head.
Unfortunately, an elderly man was involved in the altercation as the escalator descended. The elderly man fell and showed signs of pain and ended up sprawled on the airport floor.
Despite the chaotic ordeal and attempts by bystanders, including one woman trying to stop the escalator, the skirmishes continued until law enforcement intervened.
Once they arrived, police managed to separate the people involved.
Jim Jones justified his actions to authorities and bystanders by explaining, “They came on me two people,” suggesting that he was outnumbered and acting in self-defense.
The other person involved appeared visibly more agitated and more officers were needed to fully restrain him.
