New Orleans punk rap duo $uicideboy$ debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their new single “Us Vs.” (dated May 4). them.

The single, released on March 29 on G*59 Records, debuted at No. 96, almost entirely from streaming: During the tracking week of April 19-25, the U.S. Official clicks were 6.4 million (up 32%). It also opens as a Hot Rap Song at No. 22 and re-enters as a Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song at No. 26. On the latter list, it’s the highest-ranking of the eight entries in the bill to date.

“Us VS. They” is the lead single from the band’s upcoming fourth full-length album “New World Depression”, which will be released on June 14.

$uicideboy$ consists of cousins ​​$crim (real name Scott Arceneaux Jr.) and Ruby da Cherry (real name Aristos Petrou), who hail from Marrero and Metairie, Louisiana, respectively, in the New Orleans metropolitan area. After releasing their first recording on the streaming service in 2014, the pair’s following on SoundCloud has continued to grow. The meaning of survival will be lost.

“Sing Me a Lullaby” and “My Sweet Temptation” hit No. 1 on the Hot Rap Albums of 2022 chart, earning the duo their first lead on the multi-metric Billboard chart. The duo has also released numerous EPs and mixtapes since 2014.

The duo launched their own independent label, G*59 Records, in 2017, distributed by Virgin. The label also includes Chetta, Germ, Nightlovell, Rvimrxz and Shakewell.

“When we first started, we wanted to do the exact opposite of what everyone in rap was doing,” Ruby da Cherry told Billboard in 2021. “We didn’t have nice cars or gold chains, so we just showed that we were Losers and mixed in some shocking rap and stuff about our mental health issues we just wanted to bring attention to it.

The pair also performed well on tour. It ranked fourth on Billboard’s top-grossing rap tour review of 2023, earning $20.2 million from 23 shows and selling 214,000 tickets, according to Billboard Boxscore. $uicideboy$ will kick off their North American Greyday Tour in August. It will run through October with support from Denzel Curry.
