Lupe Fiasco is ready to compete with any rapper: A statement from Coachella

Lupe Fiasco made no secret of her talent during her latest performance at Coachella, declaring herself one of hip-hop’s greatest lyricists.

The rapper made it very clear that he is ready to fight anyone in the industry at any time. “Listen clearly when I say this, I mean it from the bottom of my heart; when it comes to this art, I quote, I’ll fight any fucking rapper. Anywhere. Anytime. Me Don’t care how many records you sell, or how many awards you win – if you wanna smoke, I swear on my fucking soul I’ll fuck you bastards. Damn it. Destroyed!”, he declared loudly and proudly, as fans cheered equally enthusiastically.

He even went a step further to reiterate that he doesn’t care who in the industry wants smoke and that he’s always prepared, saying, “It’s for any walking and talking asshole — it’s for Taylor, it’s for you, it’s for this look Get up ‘fuck bad boy’. I don’t care. I do it for real dogs! Well, if history is any indication, he wasn’t lying.

For the uninitiated, Lupe is not a man who talks the talk and doesn’t walk the walk – perhaps the best proof of this is his reaction to rapper Royce da 5’9” Lupe responded to Royce da’s diss in the following question ‘ Silence of the Lambda’ A few hours later, Mickey Factz posted his two cents on WRAiTH.

On each project, Lupe also focuses on lyrical sophistication that is considered elite by hip-hop’s top critics. It’s no exaggeration to say that he was a rap scholar himself and was largely responsible for the penetration of hip-hop lyricism into American academia. Having taken rap theory classes at respected universities like MIT, Lupe seemed ready to outshine anyone who dared challenge him.
