Offset made it clear that he wasn’t too happy with a recent stunt performed by a would-be influencer and celebrity impersonator, as his antics included a late takeoff.
The aspiring social media personality, known as “TakeDown” on Instagram, posted the offending video on March 1. There, he put on a pair of sunglasses and walked around the mall pretending to be the late Migos rapper.
At one point, he even said, “I look like a famous person—and of course when I go out in public, people think they see a ghost taking off.”
However, Seth didn’t discover the stunt until Monday (April 8), commenting: “No you’re not a twin, it’s not funny!!!!!!” on the reels.
The influencer wasn’t fazed by Offset’s protest and responded: “No disrespect intended but I think I do it and other people do it but why can’t we turn negative things into Positive things? Long live Takeoff.”
In a follow-up post, the man doubled down again and wrote, “Can impersonate Tupac, but not Takeoff? Make it count.”
Back in July 2023, Offset came to Way Up With Angela Yee, where he opened up about a range of topics in his life, including the burden of continuing as a superstar rapper without TakeOff by his side.
“I’m not healed. Honestly, I lost my brother. I’m not healed – I’m not in good health,” Offset said. “And this shit doesn’t help. We star in it, so people think it’s cool, but I’m a real adult. I cry about it every day. At some point, it annoys me every day. “
He continued: “This bullshit on top of shit is just too much for me. I’m still a human being. I’m going through some shit personally and people’s opinions matter now. Content on Twitter, What people say matters. I act cool, I smile for the camera, I go to fashion week, and all that shit, but behind the scenes, I need my woman to be there for me through what I’m going through. “
In October 2023, Set produced a new song titled “Say My Grace” on Offset’s second solo album Set It Off, which was released on October 13, paying tribute to the fallen Migos rapper.
In the dramatic production from Vinylz, FNZ, Maneesh and Tom Levesque, the former Migos member looks up to the sky and asks God: “Why don’t I get answers? / Why was my brother taken by a bullet? / Why did I lose my grandma to cancer ?/Why me, God? I need answers.”
In his guest verse, Travis Scott also addressed his grief over TakeOff’s murder, rapping: “I’m in a meditative state/Since we lost my brother, I really can’t take any more .”
TakeOff (real name Kirshnik Khari Ball) was shot and killed outside a Houston bowling alley in November 2022, just weeks after the release of his collaborative album with Quavo, Onlybuilt For Infinity Links.
Authorities said the 28-year-old rapper was an “innocent bystander” in a dice game involving Quavo and other men that escalated into an argument and tragically led to a shootout. An autopsy revealed fatal injuries to the head and torso of the takeoff.
The following month, Houston police arrested a 33-year-old man named Patrick Xavier Clark, charging him with the rapper’s murder. Clark, known locally as DJ Pat, maintained his innocence and was released from jail on $1 million bail in January.
