The annual AthFest music and arts festival is scheduled to take place in central Athens over the weekend of June 21-23, with more than 100 performers expected to perform on various stages and venues. The event is a benefit for the local nonprofit Athens Education Association, which last week announced the first artists for this year’s festival.
The confirmed list of performers includes rock band Heffner, Hotel Fiction, Kilkenny Cats, Maserati, Reverend Tribble & The Deacons, Sneakers, Susto, The Pink Stones and Wim Tapley & The Cannons, R&B musician Kyshona and hip-hop artist Lil Darius.

Lil Darius is from Athens, while Kyshona got her start in the local singer-songwriter scene. Kilkenny Cats and Maserati are both veteran independent bands, while Sneakers is a member of dB’s and Let’s Active.
Mary Joyce, executive director of AthFest Educates, said in a news release that the nonprofit received more than 560 applications from performers to perform at the festival and that the final lineup “highlights the high caliber of our local music and arts community.” and diverse talents.”
Performances on AthFest’s outdoor stages are free and open to the public, including the KidsFest area, which features family-friendly live music and activities. More than 10 clubs in central Athens will host house concerts at this year’s festival, and all-access wristbands can be purchased at athfest.com. More performances will be announced in April, including details of where artists will perform.
