They Liv3 are an underground trio from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, consisting of Jaysin Logik, King Relik and Prolifik. All of them have collaborated extensively since signing to Force 5 Records as solo artists before forming a group together just over a year ago and properly introducing themselves as a unit on their self-titled feature-length debut album. However, as the first season of 2024 comes to an end over the Easter weekend, they, Liv3, are gearing up to make their debut EP.
“TCOB” starts with a fuse, kick and snare, allowing everyone to play off each other on the mic, while “Galvanized” talks about real stuff in a rap-rock style. “Evil Wayz” bring a Memphis trap vibe with their instrumentals, getting them into evil trash bags, and after an interlude, “Hollow” featuring Rick Dogg plays over these summery guitar licks, with the wind blowing, And the trap-driven “Killaz” talks about drinking. “Crazy,” starring streamer Danny Diablo, saw off Obey with a 2-minute hardcore jam.
The eponymous group is a powerful showcase for They Liv3’s chemistry, while Obey continues to further establish themselves as one of the most integrated groups currently operating in Milwaukee hip-hop. With production ranging from boom bap to rap rock, Memphis rap, trap and even a bit of hardcore punk, they all continue to echo each other impressively just like they did when they debuted 13 months ago.
