Tyra has taken the music world by storm ever since her song “Water” became popular.
The South African knows exactly what she wants her music to sound like. “I knew I wanted my sound to be a fusion of pop, R&B, Afrobeat, Appiano,” she told Time last year. The young singer announced her debut album several months ago and pre-ordered it far in advance so that she could properly produce it.
The music video for “Water” racked up nearly 150 million views in just a few months, spawning the #TylaWaterChallenge. Tyra said the move that caught the internet’s attention is actually “a South African dance style” and not twerking as some may have imagined.
