RJ Bond said prosecutors filed a murder case against Keefe D based solely on statements and not on physical evidence linking him to Tupac’s 1996 death.

RJ Bond is refuting the prosecution’s case against Keefe D, with evidence suggesting the prosecution may not have the evidence they claim to have.

The filmmaker and longtime Tupac investigator, who spent nearly two decades documenting the circumstances of the 1994 murder, raised serious questions about whether the evidence against Keef D would actually hold up in court.

Bond believes the core issue centers on the charges prosecutors actually brought against Keefe D.

“A man was charged and potentially convicted for something he said,” Bond explained. “Now, I don’t know about you, but this is not the country I want to live in.”

Bond pointed out a key problem: There was no physical evidence directly linking Keefe D to the crime. No guns. There is no forensic examination. There was no concrete evidence linking him to the shooting.

On September 7, 1996, Tupac participated in the Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

After the match, Tupac and his Death Row entourage encountered Keef D’s nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson in the hotel lobby.

Tupac initiated a confrontation, punching and kicking Anderson and beating him along with Suge Knight and others. Hours later, Tupac was shot multiple times while driving a white Cadillac near the Las Vegas Strip and died six days later.

According to Bond’s analysis, Keef D claimed he was given a gun and went to the 662 Club owned by Suge Knight to wait for Tupac to perform.

Bond questions that logic: “If you can’t prove he was in Vegas, or you can’t prove he had a gun, and you can’t answer a simple question like, ‘Well, Keefe D said he got a gun and they went to Club 662,’ then there were 14 armed Vegas cops with guns at Club 662 that night, and at least that many guns were in their possession.”

Keefe D’s 2019 memoir Compton Street, co-written with Yusuf Jah, has become a major issue in his defence.

On June 30, 2026, a Nevada judge ruled that the book could be used as evidence, allowing prosecutors to use his own words against him.

Bond questions the reliability of statements in co-authored works: “When you look at a concept like this, you say, ‘Well, how much of that is true and how much of it is the other author’s?’ Like I said, at the end of the day, you see we’re going to take someone to court based on what they say, right?”

Keefe D’s initial statements to police were equally disturbing. He faces serious federal drug charges involving 10 gallons of PCP.

In 2008, local prosecutors with the Los Angeles Police Department approached him with an offer agreement promising possible leniency in the PCP case if he provided information about Tupac’s murder.

However, the local agreement did not protect him from federal prosecution.

Federal authorities opened a separate drug trafficking case for cocaine and PCP, but that case was not covered by the local agreement. Pound noticed this contradiction.

“They said he actually told Keefe D, ‘Well, if you give us information about Tupac Shakur’s murder, we’ll make a deal on the PCP case.’ ” Now, last time I checked, especially when you get knocked out twice in a KFD and you put in 10 gallons of PCP, that’s the equivalent of a life sentence. “

Bond is also disturbed by the fact that Keefe D has become a paid informant for the LAPD.

“If you really think this guy is a dishonest guy, but if your goal is to keep him out of murder for the rest of his life, and you want him to be an informant trying to frame somebody, then you have to have some kind of trust, right?” Bond said.

According to reports in the case, the trial began on August 17 and lasted for six weeks. The trial period coincided with the 30th anniversary of Tupac’s shooting.

Keefe D has maintained his innocence throughout the legal proceedings.
