In an unexpected genre crossover shakeup, hip-hop veteran Nelly has officially been tapped to headline the final Sunday of the Cowboys Music Festival. He will step into the spotlight alongside EDM giant Steve Aoki.
The full story: The booking comes as a last-minute rescue after British alternative musician Yungblud reluctantly canceled his July 12 Calgary performance to take a mental health break. Yungblud was set to close the 30th anniversary of Cowboys Music Festival during Stampede week — his first Calgary show.
Nelly now joins a lineup that included Sean Paul and Flo Rida July 4, and 5 Seconds of Summer + Jason Derulo July 5. The festival runs July 2-12 at Cowboys Park. “Hot in Herre” at Stampede? It’s happening.
