Funk and hip-hop sampling pioneer George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic delivered a historic Sunday night performance at the Essence Festival.
The set celebrated the exact 50th anniversary of the debut “Mothership landing” in New Orleans. Clinton, 84, performed from the iconic spaceship stage prop with Bootsy Collins guesting.
The 90-minute set included “Flash Light”, “Atomic Dog”, and “Give Up the Funk”. Multiple rappers were spotted side-stage.
