The family of late Memphis producer Ty Keith has released a statement following his sudden death.
The family of BryTavious “Tay Keith” Chambers released a statement on Friday (June 19) confirming his death and expressing their sadness at the loss of their loved one.
“Bry Tavious was a visionary producer, songwriter, entrepreneur, philanthropist and cultural force whose work helped define the sound of a generation. From Memphis to the global stage, he shaped countless hit records and left a lasting mark on music and culture,” the statement read. “He is dedicated to creating opportunities for others, authors, artists and creators, producers, through his company Drumatized
The statement continued: “As an honorary graduate and professor emeritus at Middle Tennessee State University, Britavius remains an active alumnus, mentor and advocate for young creatives. He is also a passionate supporter of mental health awareness and cancer-related causes in memory of his late mother.”
“Above all, BryTavious was a beloved son, brother, uncle, family member and friend. While the world knew him as Tay Keith, his family knew him as BryTavious – a source of love, strength, laughter and guidance,” the statement added.
The statement concluded: “We are comforted to know that his legacy will live on through the music he created, the opportunities he provided and the lives he touched. We respectfully ask for his privacy during this difficult time and continue to pray for his family and loved ones. Memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.”
According to previous reports, Tay Keith was found dead in his Nashville apartment on Thursday afternoon (June 18). He was 29 years old. Nashville police discovered his body during a welfare check. Although the cause of death has not yet been determined, police have ruled out foul play.
After news of Keith’s death broke, several of the Grammy-nominated hitmaker’s peers, such as BlocBoy JB, Juicy J, The Alchemist, Mike WiLL Made-It and more, took to social media to express their condolences.
BlocBoy JB posted on Instagram, “Damn ’cause you hurt me,” along with a photo of him and Tay on a date.
Producer Mike WILL Made-It pays tribute to Tay Keith’s musical contributions to the music game.
“Rest in peace young legend, it was an honor to meet you and make history with you in this life,” he wrote. “Leaved so early, thank you for your contribution to the game, a true artist, a true legend and an inspiration! Gone but never forgotten…”
