Matt Damon raps as his alter ego “The Nomad” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to promote safe water use.

Matt Damon brought his alter ego “The Nomad” to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to rap about bringing safe water to people around the world.

The actor introduced himself as a rapper rather than the Hollywood star audiences know from “The Bourne Supremacy” and “Saving Ryan.”

Damon explained that he launched the Get Blue campaign with Water.org to address the global water crisis.

There’s a funny moment in the clip where Damon stutters during his opening line. Instead of cutting the tape, he asked to start over and nailed the performance on the second take – and this is where Black Thought’s hidden hand comes into play.

“One in four people doesn’t have safe water/That could be your mother, sister, father or daughter/We should help each other/Cause there’s nothing hotter than this/We’ll make the problem go away, like, poof, Harry Potter.” As Matt Damon utters these words, Black Thoughts can be heard rhyming off-camera, while The Roots play along.

The performance shows Damon’s commitment to his career while also remaining entertaining. He made clever puns throughout, including a reference to shopping at the Gap and a reference to Paul Revere to spread the message about safe water.

“Gonna pull up to the gap, put on a hoodie, then we’ll pull up Paul Revere and say safe water is coming/Yeah, but the crisis is solvable/Make your voice super clear/It’s amazing to help/We’ll tear down all barriers,” the rhyme continues.

Fallon praised Damon’s efforts, and the audience gave Damon a standing ovation for his rap skills and promotional work.

The Get Blue campaign aims to bring safe drinking water to millions of people around the world.

By combining entertainment with activism, Damon shows how celebrities use their platforms to raise awareness of critical global issues while keeping audiences engaged.
