Fat Joe talks about his crazy NBA Finals experience in San Antonio, including the viral moment when he distracted Wembanya.
Fat Joe’s Knicks Finals adventure in San Antonio turns into an unforgettable night when the legendary rapper finds himself performing an animated “Barney Dance” on national television.
The rap star-turned-podcaster was caught on camera trying his best to distract Victor Wembanyama, and it seemed to work as the NBA star missed a free throw.
“I think I’m on to something, but I can’t prove it. This might be the first time they’ve captured Fat Joe’s hat story,” Joe laughed, admitting that the viral clip led fans to believe his antics played a role in the botched take.
However, the real story happened after the game. Joe admitted he was “drunk” as he walked through the crowd at the San Antonio Arena.
“I was drunk. I was sitting in the dugout and it was Shaq [O’Neal]kenny [Smith]Ernie [Johnson]Chuck [Charles Barkley]”Fat Joe described the ESPN staff this way.
What impressed Joe most was Shaq’s demeanor. The Lakers legend doesn’t believe the Knicks will take home the championship.
“So I walked over to Shaq. I could tell Shaq wasn’t a believer,” Fat Joe explained. “You’re from Newark, New Jersey. Shaq, you walked in the tunnel for 10 minutes. Don’t do that,” Fat Joe said, trying to understand why the four-time NBA champion didn’t fully support the Knicks.
