Kodak Black was arrested in Florida for drug trafficking.
Yak was booked on Wednesday (May 6) in Orange County, Florida, according to police records obtained by XXL. He faces one count of trafficking in ecstasy, a synthetic psychoactive drug with stimulant and hallucinogenic effects.
Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, told XXL that the South Florida rapper turned himself in in connection with a 2025 case in which police searched a car in which Kodak was not a passenger and found a bag containing a bottle of prescription cough syrup that allegedly had Yak’s fingerprints on it.
“Legally, the case was insufficient to charge possession of the item,” Cohen said. “Then, instead of simple possession, they doubled down and filed it as a trafficking charge. I will fight that charge. This is an ongoing theme where cases that typically would not be filed against Mr. Capri because of weak legal foundations. We look forward to another fruitful resolution to another case that should never have been filed.”
Kodak has a long history of run-ins with the law in Florida. Over the past few years, he has been arrested for drug possession, weapons possession, trespassing and assault. Prior to Wednesday’s arrest, Kodak’s most recent encounter with police was in 2023, when he was arrested for cocaine possession and witness tampering. The case was dismissed the following April.
